Women and Menopause

Menopause is the termination of reproductive age in females. This can include the symptoms that occur before and after this period of life. This can be one of the most common problems in females. This is typically the end of mensuration. This can be the duration after 12 months after a females menstruation ends.

Even before menopause, females will have different symptoms. These symptoms can be called perimenopause. This occurs from 45 to 55 years of age. The symptoms can be different from people to people. The duration can be from seven years and more. This duration depends on the lifestyle of the woman. At this period, the two hormones estrogen and progesterone can play a major role in the expressed symptoms. These are major sex hormones in females.

Signs and Symptoms

·         Irregular Periods

When a woman reaches closer to her menopause, she will have irregularities in her periods.

·         Vaginal Dryness

There can be pain and dryness in the vagina. This can affect the sexual life of women.

·         Hot Flashes

Feeling of increased temperature in all over the body. Usually in the face, neck, and the chest. This can also look like redness in these places. It can also be a sudden feeling.

·         Night Sweats

This is the hot flashes during the night. These symptoms can be very intense when you wake up. This also depends on woman to woman. Some may have a severe form and some other may have milder forms.

·         Thin Hair And Dry Skin

·         Trouble In Sleeping

Waking up at night or trying to sleep can occur for many reasons, but if you do not have problems with normal sleep, it may be a sign that you are approaching menopause.  It doesn’t alter the sleep directly, problems is sleep due to night sweats.

·         Low Libido

Some women report that they are less sexually active and find it harder to turn on after menopause. Other women say they are more sexually inclined and don’t hesitate to worry about things like pregnancy.

·         Forgetfulness

In middle age, both men and women may have minor memory impairments, such as not being able to remember a word or losing their car keys.  Forgetfulness is not always associated with menopause it can also be due to stress. If you are worried about forgetting too much if you think you have severe amnesia talks to the doctor.

·         Changes In Mood

Mood can depend on many things, especially changes in hormone levels that occur during menopause.  If you have had history of anxiety or depression in the past, your symptoms may worsen during menstruation.   You doctor will help you choose the treatment that will help you feel better. It’s just a phase of life, so do not confuse them of other serious diseases.
